Esperance is a perfect destination for those travelling with kids. The beaches are clean and expansive, meaning you'll always find a spot for just you. The water is crystal clear and you can find many sheltered bays perfect for paddling. There are heaps of walking trails along the coastline, all of which are pram and toddler bike-friendly. There are lots of choices when it comes to accommodation - from camping to family rooms in hotels - plus a huge selection of places to eat to suit even the fussiest eater.

Here's our rundown of the best things to do with children in Esperance.

Esperance has a number of great playgrounds for kids, especially the new one at the Jetty on the foreshore. Check out a full rundown on playgrounds in Esperance here.

If you head along the foreshore a little further, you'll see the giant whale tail which is always a hit with the kids! The pretty path along the foreshore is great for a walk or scoot!

Once you head out of town onto the Great Ocean Drive, you'll find an array of simply stunning beaches. These are perfect for kids, and we'd recommend West Beach, 11 Mile Lagoon and Twilight Beach for little ones.

If you head out to the stunning Cape Le Grand National Park, you'll find even more gorgeous beaches, and at Lucky Bay the kids can play alongside kangaroos!

Cuddle cute rabbits, hand-feed alpacas, pat the hairy Highland cattle, or marvel at the reptiles at the Esperance Bird and Animal Park. There are lots of different animals to see and learn about out at the Esperance Bird and Animal Park.

The Esperance Stonehenge is a true to size replica of the English original and it's quite a sight! Bring the kids and they can play in between the giant stones or enjoy a picnic.

Adventureland Park

If your kids want to play, head to Adventureland Park, located on The Esplanade near the Taylor Street Jetty. With a climbing whale, maze, a basketball court, fenced playground, ponds with ducks, clock tower, and a mini steam train.

Esperance Miniature Railway

Talking of train fans, you can also check out the Esperance Miniature Railway around the Adventure Land Park. This miniature trail traverses around ponds, a bridge and through a tunnel, providing a thrill for the younger members of your family.

This beautiful bird and wildlife park is an ideal outting for kids and the whole family. Conveniently located only 15 minutes out of town, the park has an array of animals including goats, bunnies, emus, foxes, peacocks, kangaroos, ponies, birds and so much more! Enjoy morning and afternoon tea at the cafe. The park also offers accomodations for the whole family, including your furry family members as well!

Esperance Growers Market

Every second Saturday from 9am to 11am, the permaculture garden at Nulsen Primary School comes alive with The Esperance Growers' Market. With stalls manned by the growers and makers themselves, you’re certain to take home the freshest, seasonal produce in town. Some of the produce offered can include honey, eggs, olive oil, preserves, freshly baked goods, fruits and veggies, flowers and a variety of handcrafted wares. Remember to take along your own bag or basket!

Museum Village Markets

Every second Sunday from 8:30am to 12:30pm, you can find this marketing bustling. Situated only a street back from the Esperance Foreshore, you can wander through the dozens of stalls selling an array of foods, coffees, antiques, crafts meats and poultry and so much more. Soak up the sun and get involved with the local community.
